Pew!: The Stinky and Legen-Dairy Gift from Colonel Thomas S. Meacham by Cathy Stefanec Ogren
To call attention to his upstate New York farming community, Colonel Thomas S. Meacham gives a mammoth wheel of cheese to President Andrew Jackson on New Year's Day 1836. But after a year, the big cheese is still around and causing a big stink in the White House. The president holds a public reception to help get rid of this cheesy gift. A fun slice of American history. Back matter includes science facts on cheese making.
Cathy began her writing career scripting plays with her neighborhood friends and persuading their parents to come and watch with the promise of Oscar-winning performances. Growing up, her home was filled with books. Her parents encouraged reading which also fueled her desire to write. After graduating from college, she was an elementary school teacher, working with second and third graders. Her last years in education were spent as a librarian in a small school where she was passionate about introducing new and diverse books to her students. Cathy now lives in New Hampshire with her husband who has an excellent sense of humor and puts up with her outrageous ideas. She believes in reading and writing books that children can use as magical tools to feed their curiosity and teach them about the world.

Tabatha Jean D'Agata grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts and currently resides in New Hampshire. As a little girl, if she wasn't picking dandelions or eating chocolate, she would write in her countless journals and diaries. As she got older, her love for inventing characters and stories enticed her to join writing critique groups as well as attend many writing workshops. She has authored several children’s books, is a longtime literacy columnist for the Parent Express Newspaper and works as a freelance social media marketer. When Tabatha isn’t working, you’ll find her making memories with her husband, daughter, son, son-in-laws, and three grandsons. Tabatha enjoys spending time with her whole family and trolling the streets of Salem, MA or an old cemetery anytime of the year. She believes in the magic of possibilities, putting a penny in her shoe for good luck and genuine kindness. Oh, and chocolate fixes everything!
